The rest is still unwritten
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I’m sorry, but American Idol needs to stop. Now.
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
What season of American Idol are we on now? 7? 8? Talk about milking the cow. Let’s just be honest, the novelty of the show is gone. The show is now a cash cow and that is it. It’s boring. And most importantly, it is not producing the same quality of stars (its sole purpose?). The only season I ever watched was season 1 (when Kelly Clarkson won) because it was during the summer, it felt like a fun summer event, and it was new (I remember I started high school right after that summer..good times). Now it’s in January just so it can air during May sweeps (I’m sure you know, but if you don’t, May sweeps is basically a competition between TV shows to see who can get the most viewers—>advertising dollars). Here are the only people who have had sustainable success as a result of this show: Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jordin Sparks (but she’s still pretty new so we’ll see how that goes). Every other person who has won the show has either been dropped from their label or struggling to stay relevent. I’m sorry but that’s the truth and I think it’s because American Idol spends more time on the singers during the show and less time after the show is over. American Idol should definitely not have another season. You have enough money, now go give it to someone who actually needs it (and way to cancel the charity show, no comment).
Just so I’m clear, my problem is with American Idol, not all of the talented people who have been part of the show throughout the years.
UPDATE: My friend brought Jennifer Hudson to my attention. She’s just amazing. I was specifically referring to people who won the show. As for Clay Aiken, I’m not sure where exactly he stands at the moment.
Just a little late, you found me
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
Where were you, when everything was falling apart?
All my days were spent by the telephone that never rang
And all I needed was a call that never came
Lost and insecure, you found me, you found me
Lying on the floor, surrounded, surrounded
Why’d you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you?
Just a little late, you found me, you found me.

Dreaming about the day
When you wake up and find that what you’re looking for
Has been here the whole time
If you could see that I’m the one who understands you
Been here all along so why can’t you see
You belong with me
Standing by and waiting at your back door
All this time how could you not know?
Baby, you belong with me

(Don’t get any ideas kids. Just sharing great words. I’ll talk about Taylor Swift later.)
Trust is a fragile thing
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
Trust is a fragile thing. Once earned, it affords us tremendous freedom. But once trust is lost, it can be impossible to recover. Of course the truth is, we never know who we can trust. Those we’re closest to can betray us, and total strangers can come to our rescue. In the end, most people decide to trust only themselves. It really is the simplest way to keep from getting burned.

Contest Update: Week 1
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
So last week I posted about my first contest, 20 people entered, and only 5 of those people are somewhat active. Basically what I’m saying is, if you make the smallest effort, you basically get an iPod. Today one of my friends linked this site on her Facebook (just to be nice, love ya M’balu) and I totally just made her join my contest so that she could get an iPod in return. I might as well hook up my friends for doing something nice for me. Consider entering because this is the least-competitive contest in the history of the world. Click here for details again.
Top 10 (of which only the top 5 get iPods)
1- ID #14
2- ID #18
3- ID #12

(Your ID is the number at the end of your unique referral link.)
Check back next week for the next update! And seriously, if you need an iPod, this is like the cheapest and easiest way to get one lol.

Monday, February 23rd, 2009Let’s talk about Izzy Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
If you are not caught up with Grey’s Anatomy this season, do not read the following. I repeat, do not read the following.
With all of the Katherine Heigl departure news (yet again), it wasn’t a big surprise when we learned that Izzy’s blood test was mixed with another patient’s, leaving her with cancer. It’s definitely an interesting story twist, but the fact that cancer is being used as an exit strategy? I don’t know how I feel about that. Honestly, I’ve always loved Katherine Heigl on Grey’s and if they’re going to get rid of her, they might as well end the show. It’s had an awesome run. Don’t get me wrong, I hope Grey’s lasts as long as possible (as long as the quality is there).
The show just can’t take another cast departure…First Isaiah Washington (Burke), then Kate Walsh (Addison)… I personally feel the fallout for any show begins when there’s drama outside of the show (aka within its cast). I remember how annoying that whole Isaiah Washington and T.R. Knight situation was and it really affected the way people saw the show. Hey, Grey’s, can we leave the drama to the script? Thanks and keep up the good work.
Ain’t no feeling like being free
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
Ain’t no feeling like being free
When your mind’s made up
And your heart’s in the right place
Ain’t no feeling like being free
When you’ve done all you could
But what’s misunderstood
Ain’t no feeling like being free
I’m like an eagle set free
Finally I’m looking out for me
Ain’t no feeling like being free
Cause my mind’s made up
And my heart is in the right place
This time is for me
If you’ve been doing you
I’m going to do me
I’m free

Ask Adnan: Some things about Freida Pinto
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
I started a new category called “Ask Adnan” (more information on the top of the page). A lot of people want to know more information about Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire), so here’s everything I’ve got so far:
Freida Pinto was born on October 18, 1984 (meaning she is currently 24 years old).
She was born in India.
She is 5′ 6” tall.
Prior to Slumdog Millionaire, she was a model with Elite Models in India.
In 2006-2007, she was an anchor for a show called “Full Circle” where she had assignments in Afghanistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Fiji among other countries.
Her dad is a banker, her mom a principal of a high school, and her sister, Sharon, is a producer for an Indian television channel.
Inspiring quote from Freida Pinto:
This industry is for fighters and those who do not give up! It is very important to believe in yourself. Even when a hundred people rejected me, I did not lose hope and finally one of the biggest directors of all times [Danny Boyle]believed in me! Also working in this film [Slumdog Millionaire] has taught me a lot, not just in terms of acting but also about myself, which is an integral part of being a good actor!
I totally see this girl in a Neutrogena commercial.
T-Shirt Lyric
Monday, February 23rd, 2009
So I’ve been listening to a lot of Destiny’s Child lately and I wanted to post lyrics from one of their songs. They’re very sweet, even if you don’t have anyone special right now, I think… Anyway, I’ll probably have more Destiny’s Child stuff later so don’t say I did not warn you
Outside I hear the rain on my windowpane
Hold up a minute, thought I heard your name
My mind, playing tricks on me again
I hear knocks at the door, is that my baby home?
Why couldn’t it be reality?
Looked at the clock and it says 4:03
At nine, he’ll be arriving on a plane
Then we’ll be making love and hearing this song again
Destiny’s Child - T-Shirt
(I hope I can find a wife who is that dedicated to me…lol)
After all you’ve put me through, you’d think I’d despise you. But in the end, I wanna thank you, because you made me that much stronger.
