That Rihanna Picture

Friday, February 20th, 2009

rihannaLast night, TMZ posted a picture of a beaten and bruised Rihanna (you can Google it, I’m not posting it). Has that poor girl seriously not been through enough? Now she has to deal with the entire world seeing her like she would never want to be seen. What the fuck.

What kind of assholes exploit someone who has been through this (whether it be TMZ or the officials who leaked the picture in the first place). It’s one thing to talk about it, it’s another thing to publicly reveal confidential/private information. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with people? The police need to get on their shit and find the person who leaked this picture to the public. Just because she’s a celebrity doesn’t mean she’s not a human being. It’s not right at all.

BTW, it’s Rihanna’s 21st birthday today.

Oh, and LensCrafters can suck it

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Just another thing. I went to LensCrafters [to get my glasses] because they had this promotion: a pair of glasses for $99.00. I went to the store and asked which glasses were eligible for the promotion. They pointed me to a wall full of literally the ugliest glasses I have ever seen in my life. A wall of crap. Hideous. I immediately turned away and just spent the money I knew I was going to spend anyway. I hate when good deals aren’t actually good deals. Other than that though, the service was really great. Well done.

You know when you get your glasses for the first time?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

So I have been walking around lately without any vision correction (broke my glasses, ran out of contacts) and let me just say that it’s been kind of nice. And while I’ve enjoyed not being able to see anything clearly, it was time to fix things. I had to be able to see in class…and more importantly, I had to be able to see the TV. So today I went to LensCrafters and got a new pair of glasses. They look pretty much like my last ones, but they have this neon tint to them. They are actually really similar to glasses I had in 8th grade…I broke those because I was trying to prove that my glasses were indestructable..so I dropped them on the floor on purpose…and they broke…fail.

It is really nice to see things clearly now. It reminded me of the first time I got glasses…The leaves looked crunchier and the world more beautiful. It’s that same feeling again. That’s all.

Oh and while I waited for my glasses I totally did some unecessary shopping at Target..just some cool t-shirts and bags of chips.

UPDATE: Both bags of chips are now gone.

U.S. Tour Dates coming? Thanks B.

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

So I just received an email with an “exclusive password” to buy Beyonce tickets. In the list of tour dates I saw a show in Seattle, WA. This is the only U.S. tour date I have seen so far for Beyonce’s “I Am” tour…and Washington sure beats going to Europe…wait..I kinda want to go to Europe now. Sigh.

Keep checking Beyonce’s tour page at Ticketmaster here! The password is “beyonce”.

You know what’s a great movie? Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

romy_and_micheles_high_school_reunionI just watched Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion with a skeptical friend (she gave it 15 minutes and we ended up watching the whole thing..yes!) Just to clarify, I’ve probably seen this movie at least 8 times. But yeah, it’s just such a great movie about being yourself. I’m really milking that whole idea aren’t I? Oh well. I love it. It was also really funny…a laugh per minute kind of movie for sure. You know, you can judge the movie from its cover, but you should give it a chance. I made my guy friends from high school watch it (and I mean I forced them to) and they laughed a lot and seemed to enjoy it. Anyway, here’s my favorite quote from the movie. Yes, a quote.

“Can I tell you the truth? I never knew that we weren’t that great in high school. I mean, we always had so much fun together. I thought high school was a blast. And until you told me that our lives weren’t good enough, I thought everything since high school was a blast. I think we should go back out there as ourselves…And just have fun like we always do. The hell with everyone else.”

The only time “better late than never” doesn’t work…

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Is if you go late to a movie and I seriously mean that. Who wants to miss the first 15 minutes of a movie, even if it is the previews? I hate when people say “it’s okay.” It’s definitely NOT okay. I’d rather just go home and see the entire movie another time. I hate it when people aren’t punctual (even when it’s me)!

But my point of writing isn’t to talk about going late to the movies. It’s to talk about the fact that it’s never too late to follow through with your plans. Sometimes I think about things like, “why didn’t I do something sooner?” But more and more I’ve been thinking, “what if I never met these people? What if I never had this opportunity? What if I never did this?” You come to a point in your life when you have to think, “Is this the person I want to be for the rest of my life?” You owe it to yourself to at least try and get everything you want. Do your thing :)

Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I’m through with playing by the rules of someone else’s game
Too late for second guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It’s time to trust my insticts, close my eyes, and leap
It’s time to try defying gravity
I think I’ll try defying gravity
And you can’t pull me down

I’m through accepting limits cause someone says there so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try I’ll never know

Too long I’ve been afraid of losing love, I guess I’ve lost
Well if that’s love, it comes at much too high a cost

Have you seriously not seen Slumdog Millionaire yet?

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

slumdogmillionaireMy need to write this post came when I realized that a few of my good friends still haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire… ummm question…What else have you been doing with your life these past few months? Just so you know, the movie will be out of theatres this week. Unless you’re planning on doing something illegal, I highly suggest you go see it soon. Take me with you, even though I’ve seen it three times already! Siblings..Ian…I forget who I was with the third time (ahh don’t get mad at me!)

I loved this movie for many reasons: it made me feel good, it was cute (obsessed with the little kids), it had such a great love story, it had incredible direction, and it had a lot of underlying important themes. The way I felt after this movie…worth more than $10.00. But don’t take my word for it, just wait until it wins Best Picture at the Oscars this weekend (wait, let me rephrase that…it BETTER win).

In other news, here’s a really interesting article about a few of the child actors still living in the slums. Click here to go read it at Yahoo!

Beyonce needs to add U.S. tour dates. Now.

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009

beyonceBeyonce… I love you, but is there a reason why you’re only touring Europe in the Spring? Am I seriously going to have to fly to Europe to see you in concert again (I mean, if I have to I will..but I’d prefer the convenience of the States). Now that I think about it… I’ve been to every tour Beyonce has done since she went solo… Alright, time to start looking into which “I Am…” show I’ll be going to. It has to be after finals and before summer school. This will be annoying but worth it.

If any of you are interested in seeing B in Europe, here’s the link for all the info you need (and some really exciting VIP packages…that’s how I got to meet Beyonce the first time around!)

P.S. I know I sound like a crazy person, but this is how much I love Beyonce in concert. She’s amazing.

A favor, please?

Monday, February 16th, 2009

I just got some really heartbreaking news involving a friend and I need everyone to do me one favor.

Can you take one quick second to tell your family that you love them? Please?

To my beautiful family: I love you so much and don’t know where I’d be or what I’d do without you. Thank you for always being there for me and I’m so  sorry I take our time together for granted sometimes. You are the only loves of my life and I’m so grateful for you (even if I clearly don’t show it sometimes). Everything I am is because of you. I love you and I’ll see you very soon.

Please do me that favor. My whole heart goes out to anyone that has been affected by the recent plane crash in Buffalo, NY. Please be strong and God bless.

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I’ll be right beside you, dear

I’m proud of Britney Spears

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

britney1So who cares if I’m proud of Britney Spears? Who the hell am I? Luckily I own this blog and with that ownership get to say whatever I want. There’s no arguing with that. Anyway, why am I proud of Britney Spears? There’s so many things really. I’m proud because she put out an amazing new album (Circus, seriously get on that immediately if you haven’t already). I’m proud of the fact that she’s finally going on tour after 5 years (March 5th can’t come sooner). I’m proud because her children are back in her life and vice versa. I’m proud of the fact that her family was there for her when she needed them most. What I’m most proud of, however, is that she’s looking to the future. You can only stay caught up in the past for so long and eventually you have to move on. Congrats Britney. I never gave up on you (and have bracelets to prove it…they said “I Will Never Give ^ on Britney). BTW, she also looks great! I know someday I’ll look like that too (fit and healthy…not a woman). Let’s talk about Rihanna and Chris Brown for a second

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

crSo if you haven’t heard about what happened with Rihanna and Chris Brown exactly one week ago, then you live under a rock. I just think it’s a really sad situation and that the public can spend forever speculating the circumstances that lead Chris Brown to “bite and hit” Rihanna. The truth is, you may never know the full truth and it’s best to only focus on the lesson you can learn from something like this. Clearly Chris Brown must have had some life experiences (or lack of experiences) that caused him to act the way he did. If anything, hopefully this little stunt brought some much-deserved attention to a very serious issue. That’s all I have to say about that. Love.
