So what’s going to be different about Beyonce’s 4 Vegas shows? I’m going, BTW.

Saturday, July 25th, 2009

beyoncelasvegasSo seeing Beyonce for the third time on her “I Am…” tour last night (in NJ) was just as exciting as seeing it the first time (in NY). At the end of the show Beyonce said this was her last show in America which really got me thinking that this Vegas show is going to be something spectacular. I can’t believe I’m about to see Beyonce for the 4th time in 2009, but I just had to. I can’t not know what’s going down in Vegas. I think what people need to understand is that…concerts are my hobby. It’s a mad expensive one, but it’s one that has the most value/sentiment for me.

So what’s different about Beyonce’s 4-night stay in Vegas? I’ve confirmed a few details such as the fact that the show is specially choreographed just for the Encore Theatre (part of the Wynn Hotel)..I guess that’s what Beyonce’s doing with the week in between last night’s show and the first Vegas show. The show is also only going to be 1.5 hours as opposed to the 2 hour-and-change “I Am…” concert. And of course probably the biggest difference is that the audience will only consist of 1500 people, as opposed to the usual 10,000-20,000 during the “I Am…” tour. So basically this show WILL be different from the “I Am…” tour and I guess it’s just a matter of going to find out the rest.

I am super excited. I’ll be going this coming Friday, July 31st. And I’ll be in the 3rd row in orchestra right…3 seats from the center aisle. I don’t know how I got such great seats so late, but I’m thankful. See you there. Excited like hell.

For anyone else that may still be interested, you can still get [only] floor seats for $1100 each by going to the Ticketmaster website or by calling an Encore Theatre representativeyou’ll get MUCH BETTER seats if you call in. Same price either way.

From fake tickets to front row: A Jonas Brothers Miracle.

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

jonas000x0422x317Story time! Last night I took 3 of my younger girl cousins to the Jonas Brothers concert at Nassau Colliseum (you know, their third sold-out show there). I know a lot of you would feel more comfortable if I said I went solely as a chaperone, but I don’t not like the Jonas Brothers (but I’m definitely not one of those crazies…you know exactly what I’m talking about.). Alright, now to fill you in on the subject of this post.

Fake tickets? What? Does everyone know what StubHub is? It’s basically a place that lets people buy and sell tickets (usually at prices that are from 3 to 10 times the face value…aka the price written on the ticket). Why would someone use this? Well, it’s pretty much the only way to get the amazing seats I always get at concerts. I’ve been doing this whole ticket thing since I was probably 10…and luckily realized at an early age that Ticketmaster is useless (if you want the best seats). So this is what happened: We get to the concert, we go to our seats in the 6th row. Ten minutes later, these girls show up with our exact same tickets/seats. All of us are escorted out of Nassau Colliseum and we’re told both parties are not allowed to sit there. It turns out that StubHub (more like SnubHub…haha..ha…annnd scene) sold the same tickets twice. So we’re standing outside of Nassau Colliseum trying to buy other seats at the box office…And…

The Miracle: Two promoters for the Jonas Brothers (or some other title, but regardless, they work for Jonas Brothers) came up to us and were like, “What’s goin’ on?’. We explained our horrible situation to them and they were like, “Do you want these tickets?” I looked at them and saw…they were front row tickets. Thinking this was another scam I said, “How much?” And they said…I’ll never forget this because this NEVER happens to me….”Free.”

Yes. I know. You’re thinking…”What a lucky son of a bitch!” I agree. I cannot believe that this happened. All of it. From overbooking our seats to what actually ended up happening. I was so grateful for these two people. They saved us. You guys have no idea how much my youngest cousin was dying to see these guys perform (unless you too are one of those crazies). From the bottom of my heart, thank you again Jonas Brothers staff for helping us out in such a big way. This was also the first concert these girls have ever been to and I’m so happy that they were able to have this experience. I know they’ll remember this night for the rest of their lives.

Now for what I thought about the concert. I was entertained the whole time. And I can totally see why people love them. But I think what hits home for me, more so than the music, is the values I share with them. These guys are such great role models for young America. They just seem like genuinely nice guys. My favorite part of last night though was when Nick Jonas gave a really inspiring speech about his struggle with diabetes. He then sang “A Little Bit Longer.” It was all beautiful. I left the concert feeling inspired. I’m going to post a one-liner quote in a few minutes.

Thank you again to the two guys who made our night yesterday. Seriously. Thank you so much. I’ll never forget this experience and extremely kind gesture.

P.S. I know this whole StubHub situation really sucked but I’ve been buying from brokers since I was 14 (I’m 21 now) and this is the FIRST TIME anything like this has ever happened. Usually my tickets are always valid and there’s never a problem. So don’t be discouraged. My tip for StubHub buying? Don’t get e-tickets (the one’s that can be printed out). Get actual tickets stubs. You can always ask what type of ticket you’re being sold. I hope this was a pleasant read. Until next time!

I just ordered the fastest Mac you can buy / I’m finally leaving the PC.

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

pctomacIt’s finally happened. The guy who said he would never get a Mac just ordered one. Don’t get me wrong, I think Apple products (aka my iPod) are amazing…but I’ve just been used to the PC for a really long time now. I’ve been making websites since I was eight years old and a person just gets comfortable. But what happened all of a sudden? What made me leave the PC? I’m just tired of viruses-crashing-unexplainable-uncertainty-failure-to-keep-up. Currently my “portable” laptop crashes whenever I move it. That’s really great/convenient (sarcastic). But what has really pushed me in my decision is this: all my friends seem to be so happy with their Macs and I never hear them complaining. And I really don’t want to be a person who complains about their computer. So to alleviate the situation…my new computer is on the way…but that’s not all.

Did you know you can customize your Mac at Apple.com? Well…that’s exactly what I did. I thought to myself, “what if I had an insanely fast computer?” I basically selected all the best options related to speed/size (despite everyone advising me against that). They told me, “You’ll never need that much.” Then I said, “Who decides what I need but me?” Ya burnt!

Fun fact: my first computer was actually a Mac. This is like ages ago when computers first came out. I’m not sure how/why we switched over to the PC…but it’s what I’ve been using basically ever since…now.

I’m totally setting my expectations really high just because I am one of those PC–>Mac switchers. I don’t know what to feel. I have a feeling that all the extra stuff (dollars) will give me exactly what I need (it better). OMG, look at me I’m turning into one of those Apple people. The only thing missing is an iPhone…and I will not leave Verizon just for a phone…not to mention…my new Verizon LG enV Touch phone is actually my best iPhone wannabe to date. It literally does everything I need. I get easy email, visual voicemail (I knew Verizon would catch up), and it just has that cool/flowy feel of the iPhone. Well done, LG.

It will be here next week. Even though I’ll miss window controls on the right side of the screen and the easier right-click…I’m excited.
