Scarlett Johansson plans to look good in latex.

Monday, April 13th, 2009

scarlettjohannsonlatexI just read the title of this post out loud and laughed just a little. So Scarlett Johansson has been preparing for her new superhero role in the Iron Man sequel.  And? Well, I decided to make a post because I really liked ScarJo’s response to some crazy diet/exercise rumors and the effects of those rumors on people. She calls the claims reckless and dangerous. She’s a little funny, honest, and I’m positive that she will look great in latex. Funny ScarJo moment: My friend after seeing He’s Just Not That Into You saying, “Why does Scarlett Johannson always play the whore?” Just fun analysis. She’s quoted below:

Funny: Claims have been made that I’ve been on a strict workout routine regulated by costars, whipped into shape by trainers I’ve never met, eating sprouted grains I can’t pronounce.

Honest: Yes, celebrities are just like us. They struggle with demons and overcome obstacles and have annoying habits and battle vices. That said, I would be absolutely mortified to discover that some 15-year-old girl in Kansas City read one of these ‘articles’ and decided she wasn’t going to eat for a couple of weeks so she too could ‘crash diet‘ and look like Scarlett Johansson.

Katherine Heigl speaks! “I’m there if Izzy remains part of Grey’s Anatomy.”

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

katherineheiglspeaksThis deserves its own post. After all the Katherine Heigl departure news, Katherine Heigl herself has finally spoke! This was at a studio party for Grey’s 100th episode (coming soon). She said she doesn’t know if Izzy will live or die and that  she’ll stay on Grey’s if Grey’s will have her. Here is a big-quote from Katherine Heigl herself:

I was assuming that at one point and I got a lot of shrugged shoulders and shakes of the head, so I don’t know if that’s a yes or a no [in response to if Izzy will die]. No one will tell me and I don’t know how this is going to go. I don’t know if I live or die. I don’t know how Izzie fares. I’m there if Izzie remains part of Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t know if I want to continue for five years working 12 months a year, but I can take at least another year or two.

Well there you have it. More stuff to drive me even more crazy until the coming episodes. Fun. OMG what if they let Izzy live? I say don’t kill her off! BTW, I’m totally spelling “Izzie” wrong but who seriously cares about the spelling of the name when you’ve got all this news?

A great new interview with Beyonce

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

beyonceebonyAt the airport today I was suckered into buying the April 2009 issue of Ebony magazine. And by “suckered into buying” I really mean that I saw Beyonce on the cover of this magazine with the title “Beyoncevoled…An intimate portrait of the superstar you may not know.” Seriously, you wouldn’t buy it? Anyway, I loved the interview and for that reason I’m typing it all up. If you get a chance, try to check out the actual magazine because it’s a great read with some awesome pictures!

On performing for the Obama’s first dance: I was completely anxious and honored. Honestly I’ve watched everyday because I just want to relive the moment. It was one of the most spectacular moments of my life.I was very misty-eyed. What was interesting was the moment after. As I was breaking down [crying], they told me, ‘All right, get off the stage.’ And I was literally bawling. They were like, ‘Come on. Get yourself together.’

Who is the real Beyonce?: I’m a daughter, I’m a friend, I’m a wife, I’m a sister. All those things first. I’m an artist. I’m a businesswoman. I’m very sensitive and I’m also very strong. I’m so many things. I’m multifaceted. I’m a lover. I’m inspired by love. I make decisions from the heart.

beyonceebony2On favoring projects that provide personal growth: If it doesn’t, I don’t do it. I turn down million-dollar offers all the time because it’s something that does not feel true for what I’m trying to say. I have to be passionate about it. Love inspires and growth inspires me. If it is not going to be iconic, something I can love 10 years from now, I’ve learned I should not waste my time with it.

On family: In every family, you have your disagreements, but ultimately we love eachother and we would do anything for eachother.

On Jay Z and business: Jay doesn’t get involved in my business and I don’t get involved in his. He was very successful before I met him and I was very successful before I met him. So we have so much respect for each other, and respect for each other artistically. We are very close friends, and I believe he is the ultimate artist and he has the same feelings for me.

On being a wife: I don’t know how to talk about it because I don’t like to talk about it. But I ahve a great example of a great wife, and that’s my mother. And I have great friends around me that have been married, so I’m lucky to have really good examples. And a great husband.

On being messy: I’m a little messy. Whenever I’m out in public, I have to be put together. When I get home, I rebel against it and I don’t want to take care of anything. I drop it. I’m relaxed. I don’t have any shoes on. No makeup. My shoes are left at the door. My purse is in the kitchen. I think that is the most difficult thing for him [Jay Z]. He’s very, very organized. I’m extremely organized when I’m working, and I work so much that when I get home I don’t want to think about anything.

On being a perfectionist: I think this is just who I am. My parents and the drive they have, it’s kind of worn off on me. When I was a kid, I’ve always been a bit of a perfectionist. That’s just my personality, because I love what I do.

On mistakes and safety (I love this one): Of course I’ve made mistakes. But I’d rather take chances than be safe. Simplicity is my word for 2009. But safety is my worst enemy.

Is it just me or do you love Beyonce a little bit more after reading that interview? Family values. Humility. Honesty. Fierce-ness. Awesomeness. Thanks Ebony!

Kelly Clarkson is funny and a little nasty + new album today!

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

kellyclarksonblenderFirst thing’s first. Kelly Clarkson’s highly-anticipated new album All I Ever Wanted was released today. I’m guessing it was highly-anticipated because it’s supposed to be more like her Breakaway album and less like her My December album… If you went “huh??” to My December, you just proved my point (even though I liked the album…it was just poorly promoted).  Anyway, Kelly is also on the cover of the April 2009 issue of Blender magazine and here are some snippets. The subject of this post is pretty clear. You’ve been warned.

On peeing in the shower: Anybody who says they don’t is lying.

On walking around naked: I’m the kinda person who just doesn’t like clothes.

On checking the tissue after blowing her nose: I mean, if you have a cold, you have to check, to see how sick you are.

Why she thinks people like her: The thing with me, and my audience in particular is, people look at me like a sister or a daughter. It’s not like people look at me as unattainable, some kind of star like that. People love the ‘real’ factor that’s involved, I think.

On talking being able to talk about anything: I do not lie. Ever. I will tell my girlfriend if she looks fat in her jeans… When you don’t make yourself clear or heard, that’s where trouble starts. And that’s something I learned as a child. No one is going to know what you feel unless you tell them.

(She’s definitely right about the ‘real’ factor. I love this girl.)

Leighton Meester Interview with Seventeen!

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

leightonmeesterHere’s something to make you love Leighton Meester (plays Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl). I chose some of my favorite questions and answers. I really love her outlook on life. I totally see eye to eye. Enjoy and make sure you check out the March 2009 issue of Seventeen magazine for more! BTW, doesn’t she look gorgeous/so cute?

How open were your parents with you about their past?
It wasn’t like a topic of conversation usually–but I was aware of it. There was never any reason to feel ashamed of it or be secretive–I never thought it was that crazy. But half of what people know, they can’t understand because they don’t know the circumstances. My mom’s such an incredible woman–she’s gone through a lot. And all of this has made us the type of people who appreciate what we have. It’s made our family pretty strong.

What do you think you’ve learned from your parents’ mistakes?
It made me realize that you can’t judge anyone–especially your parents–for what they’ve done in their past, because people change. I’ve noticed some people get very enthralled with people bashing. Sometimes people can’t help themselves. But I find a way to back out and not talk about other people. Even when people are so judgemental about what you wear or your weight, you just have to step away and be like, I’m a normal, fine human being.

Did you ever get a little wild in high school?
No. I mean, there were drugs and stuff, but everybody who I was friends with didn’t do it, so I wasn’t even around it. High school was me being a dork and studying. I only went there until my junior year–then I just dropped out and didn’t go back for my last year. But I had already gotten my diploma.

Why didn’t you finish high school?
I was very passionate about pursuing my acting career, as opposed to the daily routine of high school, which bored me to death. It was a chore–I wasn’t in any after-school clubs. The only thing I did after school was go to auditions.

Who’s the leader of your castmates?
We’re all very close. I guess Blake would be more of the planner. She’s very maternal. I’ll just go where the other guys are going–I just go with the flow.

Do you have a big group of friends?
I have a very small group of friends. I don’t want to have a friend unless I can call them one of my best friends. I want somebody to be really close and cool. I want friends who are kind of like me, who go with the flow and like to have fun. I think it’s important to trust your friends. It’s especially hard in this business when you know that people are not always who they seem.

Are you the kind of person who always has a boyfriend?
I haven’t ever really relied on relationships with guys. I’ve only ever really been with a couple of them. They come around and it’s cool, but it’s never been a big thing. I guess I’ve just been really distracted by work.

Have you ever had your heart broken?
Definitely. But a lot of times, you’re breaking your own heart. I think women have a sense about things–it’s like when I’ve ever been with somebody who lied to me. There comes a point when you’re lying to yourself [by staying with a guy like that]. It’s not like he’s going to stop. But all of this has made me grow up in the way that I look at guys and love. It made me realize what kind of person I am. Now I have certain requirements.

What are your requirements?
I need to live my life. I want to experience a lot and don’t want to have to be tied down. If somebody can join me on that, then that’s great. But I want to do so many things–and maybe someday a lot of it will be impossible, but right now I don’t see the impossible.

Reese Witherspoon opens up in new interview! So real.

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

reesewitherspoonDon’t you just love Reese Witherspoon? Honestly, she’s one of my favorite actresses and Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies of all time. Here’s a new interview Reese Witherspoon had with Elle. (OMG, Elle, like in Legally Blonde! alright that’s enough.)

On her divorce with Ryan Phillippe: Very humiliating and very isolating…But, by the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions. When people get in your face and say, ‘This will pass,’ you think, Are they crazy? I’m never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothing’s ever gonna make sense again. And I still have moments where I’m like, Nothings ever gonna make sense again.

On dealing with the split: You see a lot of people play this blame game. Blame, blame, blame. You know? And it’s a really easy thing to do, and I’m certainly guilty of it. [You have to] look at yourself and go, ‘What part of this do I need to own? Which part of this is my responsibility? And that’s the painful work that you have to go through to hopefully get some real life knowledge out of it.

On being a mama: When I first had Ava, I couldn’t afford [help]. And it was so hard. I was out in Los Angeles, living [away from my family]. I really didn’t have any friends. And I had a baby. No one else who was 22 had a baby. I couldn’t go out.

On being an alleged “control freak”: I don’t think I’m a control freak. I think I’m just fearful. I operate from a lot of fear, like, of things being lost or forgotten or neglected. Losing the spiritual rather than the physical. It’s so funny to me that somehow I’ve been portrayed as a very, like, closed-off or uptight person. I’m very open.

On the paparazzi: Fascination is gonna die off. I honestly know it. But it’s just like I keep waiting and waiting, and then it’s just more tabloid magazines, and it keeps going. I don’t take a shower everyday. I don’t put on makeup everyday. I wear a lot of sunglasses, in case you noticed.

On boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal: He’s fabulous. He really is a fantastic guy.

On crazy dieting: I’m made of cookies after the holidays. Everything inside me is made of sugar and flour and a little red wine–a lot of red wine.

Jennifer Aniston = Still America’s Sweetheart

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

jenniferanistonRemember during the Friends time period everyone was calling Jennifer Aniston “America’s Sweetheart”? Well, I feel like people don’t say that as much anymore, and they definitely should. She just had two #1’s in the box office and she’s just as awesome as ever (if not more). I’ve loved Jennifer Aniston since Friends and love her even more after. I always find myself going to see “the new Jennifer Aniston movie.” I really don’t like that people keep on bringing up Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. It’s over and done with. They have both moved on and they seem to be in good places in their own lives. Can they just move on and not be constantly reminded? But can I just say something….Team Jennifer Aniston all the way (but I love “Brangelina” too!) But if I had to choose.

Here’s Jennifer Aniston in a brand new interview with Elle UK. I love her answers. Love them.

About her body and exercise (she does two hours of yoga every day with a trainer at her home gym): I know that if I eat nothing but burgers and chips, I’m not going to be hired for the parts I normally would. That might be fine one day, but not right now.

On wanting to do action movies: I get offered funny, quirky, pretty roles,” says the star, who will attend the London premiere of Marley & Me tonight. “I’d love to do an action movie. James Bond! Glamour! Daniel Craig! Shit loads of fun!

On being happy: Look what’s out there. Look what people are really living through,” Aniston says. “There’s no comparison. I am happy.

On her divorce with Brad Pitt (people need to back off now): No matter what I say, things will always be taken out of context and misinterpreted, will always be turned around to make it seem as though I won’t let something go, or that I just keep talking about it over and over.

A good last word: I don’t owe anybody anything. I don’t owe anybody my side of the story. There are no sides! There is no bad guy and there is no good guy. There are no villains and there is no heroine in this story. It’s just not the case.

Katie Holmes on being a mother

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

katieholmesKatie Holmes is on the April 2009 issue of Glamour magazine (for it’s 70th anniversary) and I wanted to share a piece of the interview with you. I had a lot of choices, but I find quotes on parenting to be the most interesting. And I’m just a baby person. Suri Cruise = seriously adorable.

On being a mother to Suri: Becoming a mother has been the most amazing experience—in an instant you become strong. You have to be a little bit wiser; it’s the most important job you have in the world… We like to be together, so we use the house for our [business] meetings. [We] play Yahtzee, board games, Scrabble. We grill; have pool parties. We play ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and Suri is the Big Bad Wolf. [Tom] reads story books to Suri and we all laugh. When a good song comes on, he’ll break into dance. We’ll watch movies in bed—recently Madagascar and Cinderella, for Suri. We have a really good time.
