Do you know what it feels like to lose three best friends at once?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

I officially do and can only think of one other person who knows what I feel right now. To that one person, I’m so sorry things happened the way they did but I’m really happy we’re together again. <3

Happy Valetine’s Day. I love all of you. Here’s to better days.

“I’m just going to say the thing you’re not supposed to say. I love you, but I love me more. I’ve been in a relationship with myself for 49 years and that’s the one I need to work on.”

You + Me = Quicksand

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

‘Cause the ground is breaking,
I can feel it shaking
Wish it was that easy,
But it’s not that easy
Gotta hold my hands up,
Gotta keep my head up
Gotta keep on breathing,
Baby even if we’re sinking
Even if we’re sinking

Because you and me are sinking like quicksand

28 things you may or may not know:

Sunday, February 8th, 2009

Welcome to my blog. I’ve been thinking about starting one up for quite some time and now finally have. I’m writing for anyone who chooses to read this. I had originally written a very personal introduction, but with the whole “25 Things” note on Facebook spreading faster than a cold, I thought it might be more interesting this way. Here are 25+3 things you may or may not know about me (and things that I will definitely write about in the future):

1.  My family is the single most important thing to me in the entire world. I would do anything to make sure that they are safe, happy, and healthy.

2.  I am completely deaf in my right ear. Long story short, I used to get sick all the time as a kid and I lost my hearing. I am so thankful that it only happened in one ear .

3.  I love entertainment. That means music, television, movies, concerts, etc. The first concert I ever saw was KTU’s Miracle on 34th Street in NYC (where Christina Aguilera stole the show). The first movie I ever saw in a movie threatre was Good Burger (dragged my sister Naureen to take me). The first TV shows I ever watched on a regular basis (non-cartoon) were Full House, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Family Matters, and Boy Meets World.

4.  My first and only car accident happened when I was 16 years old. I was driving with only a permit and I hit the car in front of me…it gets worse. I got so scared that I actually fled the scene of the accident (knowing no one was hurt). The police ended up tracking me down…Long story short, I got out of the whole thing without a scratch. I’ve learned a very valuable lesson and am thankful no one was hurt in anyway whatsoever.

5.  I love things that remind me of my childhood (Britney Spears, Pokemon, Pogs, Milk Ads, Beanie Babies, etc).

6.  I moved to public school for grades 2-8. Very early in the year in 2nd grade, I peed in my pants on the alphabet carpet (because I didn’t want to interupt the teacher who was reading to us). This followed me until 6th grade (Nick Natoli, I forgive you).  Although I always had friends, the relationships were nothing like those of the ones I had since high school.

7.  High school changed my life. It was in high school when I came completely out of my shell. High school has introduced to me some of the best friends and memories I’ve ever had. LWA Class of ‘069, I love ya (inside joke people).

8.  Every time I talk to my mom or dad on the phone (which is every single day), they make sure to always tell me to watch out for trucks when I’m driving or to lock my door when I sleep at night. And I love them even more for that.  I have the best parents in the entire world.

9.  I started making websites when I was 8 years old. Two of my most successful cartoon websites were for Pokemon (Podaily.com) and Card Captor Sakura (Cardcaptors.net). After I got over anime, I launched several fansites for artists starting at age 13.  My first entertainment site was about a band called Scene 23 (they won the TV show Popstars 2). Then I had an American Idol Season 1 website, which later turned into one of the biggest Kelly Clarkson fansites on the internet (KRZE.com). After that I started my first all-entertainment site, ECFAN.com, which at its peak received up to 50,000 hits a day. One of my most exciting moments was working with Hilary Duff’s publicist to get an interview with her for my site (back in the Lizzy McGuire days). It’s currently on hiatus and may come back online someday. I attribute all my graphic and web design skills to my experiences as a youngin’.

10.  Since the age of 8 years old (conveniently as soon as I transferred to my public school), I have put on weight every year.  I have been struggling with weight loss for the past 10 years. I have tried so many different diets, only to discover that the best way to lose weight is with exercise and no extremes. This is something I’m still working on and hopefully you’ll be able to see a positive change within me soon.

11.  The only meat I eat is chicken. I have never even tried beef. Tried fish and turkey and almost threw up both times. When I was younger, I almost stopped eating chicken too, but then my dad told me a story about how if I don’t eat chicken, there will be too many chickens in the world. So today I eat chickens so they don’t take over the world. Thanks dad!

12.  I have three beautiful older sisters. At the end of this year, they will be 23, 28, and 32. I think being raised by three sisters has a lot to do with why I am the way I am today (and I love it!)

13.  I don’t think I have a clothing “style.” I just wear and buy what I like. I don’t believe in “in season” and “out of season.” I shop everywhere from Wal-Mart to Louis Vuitton for clothes and shoes and accessories. I only buy things that I like and while others may influence my decision, ultimately it comes down to me.

14.  The only healthy habbit of mine (that is consistent) is that I drink a lot of water. Seriously, I probably go through over 120 ounces of water every single day. Gotta stay hydrated ya’ll. I’m such a camel.

15.  I’m a Muslim Pakistani-American. That means I was born and raised in the U.S. but my parents are immigrants from Pakistan. To those that are ignorant, that does not make me Indian or Hindu. There’s a difference.

16.  I have enough clothes and shoes to last me a lifetime, but I insist on shopping anyway. They’re always coming out with cool stuff that I want.

17.  Although I am definitely spoiled and get everything I’ve ever asked for, I believe I was still raised to be a humble and caring individual.  I don’t see dollars, I see character.

18.  I love helping people (even if I don’t know them). If I can make someone’s life easier or make them smile (or laugh uncontrollably), then I consider it mission accomplished. I think my purpose in life is to make people happy and I want to make sure I am always doing that.

19.  One thing I would like to do more is travel. I’ve definitely been to places around the world, but I want to visit every single place there is. I know that studying abroad next semester will definitely help me with this goal. So excited.

20.  In December 2006 I got surgery on my nose for a deviated septum. I came very close to also getting a nose job at the same time but ultimately decided not to. I am so glad I didn’t get a nose job.

21.  College has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have grown up so much in the last 2.5 years. I’ve learned a lot about other people and myself. I definitely think I’m one of those people who made the most of college.

22.  For you to be my friend, all you have to be is a good person at heart. I don’t judge people on any other criteria. I don’t care if you’re scared of the #13, only have group sex, eat spiders, or pee into the wind. As long as you’re a good person who doesn’t intentionally try to hurt other people, you’ve got an ‘A’ in my book. Live your life. :)

23.  I love quotes. I love typing up quotes from just-aired TV shows. I’m a quote-collector. I kill it with quotes on my AIM away messages and profiles.  I’d say Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives have some of the best quotes ever! Quotes make me feel good and not alone.

24.  I’m the most sensitive/feminine guy I know (that isn’t gay) and although I may find myself hurt as a result sometimes, I would not have things any other way. I’d rather feel things than not feel. Oh, and I don’t give a flying fuck what you think. I’m gonna be me and you just deal with it, okay? Holler!

25.  I’m a very sentimental person. I hold onto movie/concert tickets and old cell phones/cameras. I make sure to get at least a t-shirt from every concert I go to. I love having/taking pictures. I will never forget the people who once made me happy. Also, I still have my baby teeth in a tiny little jar…I know I’m nasty like that.

26.  I want a girlfriend, but it seems like girls always want “the bad guy” and I’m definitely not that. I’m one of those sweet, sensitive, dinner-and-a-movie kind of guys who just loves to be himself.  I know I’ll find someone who will appreciate that one day.

27. To everyone’s disbelief, I actually enjoy sports. The only reason I don’t play more often is because 1) a lot of people are not patient with people who aren’t good and 2) people get way too competitive and it just makes it not as fun for me.  Like, don’t scream at me because I gave the other side a goal…Geesh..It’s just a game bitches.

28. My favorite video games involve Mario and Nintendo.

Well I hope you enjoyed getting to know me. Stay tuned for more Adnan-ness on my blog. I’m not sure where I’m headed with this, but it’s headed somewhere! See ya soon :)
